A Friendly Guide for Pakistani Travelers Visiting Indonesia

Traveling to Indonesia is not something you need to be afraid of. However, being properly prepared before your journey can make your arrival much easier and more comfortable.

First and most importantly, you need a valid passport.

Do not wait until the day of your flight to check your passport expiry date.

2. Indonesian Visa

If you require a visa to enter Indonesia, make sure you have a valid Indonesian visa before traveling.

After receiving your visa, do not simply save it on your phone and forget about it.

Take a few minutes to carefully check all the information.

Check:

Full name

Passport number

Date of birth

Nationality

Visa type

Visa validity

Permitted stay

Entry information

Other details shown on the visa

The visa verification page uses the official Indonesian Immigration domain and the relevant visa verification path.

The system-generated code appearing after the verification address is specific to the individual visa. Do not expect every visa to have the same code.

What should you check?

The most important thing is that the QR code leads to the official Indonesian Immigration website and that the information shown there matches your actual visa and passport.

If:

The QR code opens a suspicious website

The website address looks different or unusual

Your passport number does not match

Your name is incorrect

Your visa type is different

Your dates are incorrect

The information shown online does not match your visa

Do not ignore it.

Contact your visa provider or verify the visa through the official Indonesian Immigration channel before traveling.

4. Round-Trip Ticket & Travel Itinerary

Another important thing that travelers sometimes forget is their travel itinerary.

If you are visiting Indonesia as a tourist, you should have a clear idea of:

Where you are arriving

Where you will stay

How long you plan to stay

Which cities or places you intend to visit

Your return or onward travel plan

You do not need to believe that you cannot enter Indonesia simply because you do not have USD cash in your pocket.

If you have an international ATM, debit or credit card that works in Indonesia, this can be a convenient way to access your money.

If you prefer to carry USD cash, you can carry a reasonable amount for your personal travel needs.

For example, some travelers may feel comfortable carrying around USD 500, USD 1,000 or another reasonable amount depending on their trip.

There is no reason to carry a large amount of cash simply because you are afraid that Immigration will require you to show USD.

If an Immigration Officer asks about your financial means, answer honestly and be prepared to explain how you will support yourself during your trip.

One important point

An Immigration Officer's questions and inspection powers depend on the circumstances and applicable law. Travelers should not assume that an officer will check their wallet or physically inspect their cash.

If asked:

“Do you have cash?”

Answer truthfully.

If you have an ATM or international payment card, you can explain that as well.

6. Hotel Booking

7. Most Important Part: Questions from Immigration

9. If the Officer Asks About Your Relationship in Indonesia

We have observed situations where some travelers who immediately explain that they are coming to meet a girlfriend, romantic partner or someone they have a personal relationship with can receive more detailed questioning and additional investigation.

In some cases, travelers have faced serious immigration problems, including being refused entry or deported.

This does not mean that having an Indonesian girlfriend or relationship is automatically illegal.

It also does not mean that you should lie to Immigration.

The important point is:

Do not volunteer unnecessary personal information if the officer has not asked for it.

For example, if the officer asks:

“What is the purpose of your visit?”

and your genuine purpose is tourism, a clear answer is:

“Tourism, Sir.”

There is no need to immediately start explaining your personal relationships, private life or every person you know in Indonesia.

However, if the officer specifically asks:

“Do you know anyone in Indonesia?”

or:

“Are you visiting your girlfriend?”

you should not lie or provide false information.

Answer truthfully and calmly.

Because Immigration Officers are aware of these types of cases, mentioning a romantic relationship can sometimes result in the officer asking significantly more questions about:

Who you are visiting

How you know the person

Where the person lives

How long you have known them

Your financial arrangements

Your accommodation

Your previous visits

Your purpose for coming to Indonesia

Your future plans

Therefore, our practical advice is:

Do not volunteer unnecessary relationship information.

But at the same time:

Never lie to an Immigration Officer if you are directly asked.

This distinction is very important.

10. Do Not Give More Information Than Necessary

One of the biggest mistakes nervous travelers make is giving too much information.

The officer asks one simple question, but the traveler starts telling the entire story.

For example:

Officer: Why are you coming to Indonesia?

Instead of simply answering:

“For tourism, Sir.”

the traveler may start explaining:

“I have a friend here, actually we have been talking for a long time, then I planned to come to Jakarta, and after that I might go to Bali, and my friend lives there, and then we might go somewhere else...”

This creates more topics for the officer to ask about.

Remember:

Answer the question that was asked.

If the officer wants more details, provide them.

Do not turn every simple question into a long explanation.

11. Be Calm and Respectful

Your behavior at the Immigration counter matters.

Always speak respectfully.

Do not:

Argue with the officer

Raise your voice

Become angry

Sport shoes are also a good choice for tourists because they are comfortable for walking.

14. Shalwar Qameez Is Not a Problem

You do not have to stop wearing Shalwar Qameez simply because you are traveling internationally.

Shalwar Qameez is perfectly normal cultural clothing.

If you prefer to wear it, make sure it is clean, properly pressed and presentable.

The important thing is not whether you are wearing Western clothing or traditional clothing.

The important thing is:

Clean + Neat + Comfortable + Presentable

15. Hair and Beard

Your overall appearance should look clean and well-maintained.

If you have a beard, keep it properly trimmed and clean.

If you normally shave, you can shave before traveling.
